how many times things didn't work out?
how many times you started something but the passion didn't get far enough to for you to continue doing it?
how many times you missed that important bday wish because of work?
how many times you lose that friendship or cause a irrepairable scar because of negligence? because of excuses?
how many times you wanted to talk to someone but no one's there?
how many times you still think of that person and the things you do together?
how many times is that person linked up in your conversation?
how many times was that awkward-ity observered?
how many times you get that ting-ling feeling down the spine when you're about to view or find out something?
how many times you feel that you're not good enough?

it's always easy to come from a third person's perspective. not everyone is like you. not everyone has that willpower. further, not every one think the way you think, do the things you do.

on another note. on a taxi the other day near midnight. if the bus had driven into us, i'll be dead or at least, squashed and stuck in between the seats. both of us were fast. the bus was really near me.

I remembered. I was on my way to Zouk. I was all dressed up. I board the cab..the uncle was so prim and proper.
Classical music. And all silence. Neatly combed hair. Then I feltlike a bad girl. I should be all covered up and have my violin with me.

It's been long..pardon me if it's too brief

Taxissssss:

In GuangZhou - caged.
Friendly people. Always trying to guess our nationality. I tried to speak cantonese, tried to sound like taiwanese...haha. Some time we're successful, some times we're not. Taxi uncles are just, so knowledgeable.

In Camaron - You can't find any
Seriously. I think I'll be lost there, in the brocolli filled place. They are so important!!

In Cambodia - Mostly tuk tuk.
You do get normal car taxis but they are a little more pricey. And why not just put those safety stuff aside! Tuk tuks are absolutely fine!Efficient, nice to talk with, can bargain and.....ta da!! They are professional okay!!! One whipped out 2 laminated  papers, with tourist spots written all over it! =D Actually I wanted to try those random bikes. They just take u for a short distance. Not sure if it's just one person ...but in Cambodia, I think one bike can take up to 4 people!! If you're small enough though.

Singapore!!!
It's good to be back =)

2 Jul 2009: Took a tour to the west. To the tuas. Uncle knows so much. Along the way to the destination, he could tell me what's going to be built here on the left and right. He says "go internet". haha..LTA web site.

3 Jul 2009: An uncle picked me up from his old house estate ( my house estate) to his new house estate (my destination). haha..so qiao leh! Had a good chat on house value...where where where cheap...where where where got value....and I want to go Tuas South! I want to go Jurong Island! It sounds so interesting. He says you don't see roads man....like only sand on both sides.

Yesterday: Again, about hidden cameras. Hidden "traffic police". haha...and those taxi group system that says "drive carefully at XXX" . haha..so discrete!!

Today:
Morning: Talked about taxi drivers and their dislikes on paying by nets. Now I know why. I used to think that they get the money instantly cuz one taxi uncle told me. This one says, they get it only 2 days (or more) later. They will still, have to track on the payments - for those who knows how to access the internet. Not sure if there are papers one for the heartlanders (I don't know how to describe them. Don't want it to sound condescending.). They should. Yet, they have to pay their diesel and rental right up, cash. Alrights, I think he might have exaggerated on it. I think these days, people really just use nets. So much convenient than queuing at the every so long ATM machine.

On the way home: The uncle listed to my conversation with my senior. When she alighted, he made a comment. Girl like you is hard to find these days. I speak "colloquial hokkein" and Singlish... RrrriiggGGHTT? haha..We really don't see many youngsters these days speaking dialact, some times, not even Mandarin! What a disgrace. I always have an issue with Chinese not speaking Mandarin. At least know the basics!

Without him saying, I didn't even noticed. I am observant. I care. "C&C" as he puts it. "Care and Concern". I bother to spend time observing my grandpa, looking at those patchy re-sewn oldies boxes, cared to chat up with them. Personally, I think they are such valuable people you can have. So much knowledge, so much stories to tell, so interesting!

I exercise. Discipline. I do running instead of those normal working people do. He says.

We went on to talk about so much, in such short trip. Just some line items here..

Managing people in workfoce

Friends are those who won't shun away when you're in deep shit. Those who will lend you a helping hand, especially when it comes to money.

Psychological issues on herding effect

Analysing me. "你的人 okay la.." --> Gullible in short. I should take note of people who tries to take advantage of me and those who will manipulate me.

Religion. Don't let it hinder your friendships, relationship, anything. It's a faith, it's a belief. He says all of us should have it. I disagree.

Life: "I told my daughter. If you're with this guy for 3-4 years, it doesn't mean you have to marry him"

Ends of with "Wish you all the best!"  =)   As always.

Oh! and a namecard. haha..Alex.

*These days I feel weird called taxi uncles "uncles". Like, I'm not young anymore. And it sounds rude?

Two taxis a day
[info]ataxiaday
Morning:
三只白鹦鹉住在这树上

Evening:
Prison Tour.
Normal prison, male prison, female prison, super high security, detention area....etc etc

Traffic conditions...

Spy cameras along the road..traffic police...

Information about different taxi's prices......$16 advance booking fee?!!! what do you get? Go find out!

Then the next day evening:
Hard rock heavy metal uncle!

touristy
[info]ataxiaday
Uncle intro a place to go. I just checked it out online.
Turns out to be...a place that i wanted to know yet don't wish to see.

落寞
[info]ataxiaday
如果你似的是司机,你会怎么做?

1。 装作没看到
2。 转过来安慰

我又偷偷的哭了

kampong
[info]ataxiaday
"last time uncle gamble ..i lost a house!" 豪迈的大笑。
An amount totalling to a house.

Somehow the topic changes to where I stay.

“你家那里以前很好玩的!”
"When the tide comes up, your house will be "floating" on the water (with sticks at the bottom, of couse. Not a kelong). When the tide is low, we'll go out catching..*i can't remember*."
Pointing towards a random school compound "这里以前是XXX.."
The uncle sounded 乐观。 好看得开。
Then we were debating on the existence of a beatiful little island near the coast.

I said “I can't imagine how it used to look like."

我。感叹。世界变得好快。
走不回从前, 到不了以后。 只好把自己封闭在自己的世界里。谁也进不来,自己也..出不去。

work stress
[info]ataxiaday
Every work has its own stress

"why not try tourism industry?"

Is the grass really greener on the other side?

"uncle is divorced for three times!" rather proudly.
One of the lady was a Korean. Cool.

"you will come out stronger"

Before alighting...he says "Be strong."

heartbroken
[info]ataxiaday
*repeats "heartbroken 很辛苦的hor?"
“siao! 那个zhar bo 那么buay zi dong 嘚!”
“uncle 教你..去找一个更好的, 带去找他!”

me...落莫..

"怕什么!”

下车时,他真心转过身来说:"不要再哭了”。

"uncle wish you all the best"
